OK, figured it out.

I just needed to remove the old listing and create a new one with the new IP address.
My ISP recently required us to change our IP addresses.

I'm pretty sure I covered all the bases - added a second IP address to the servers, changed the records at the registrar to point to the new IP, changed the TTLs, updated the slaves to pull from the new master IP, gave it plenty of time (2 weeks) to propagate... All seems to be working OK.

Now that the old IPs are dead I removed them from the server. Rebooted, just in case. And now I can't log in to the server unless the old IP is listed as an active ethernet port. When I log in it shows in the server info and in the main management console window as the old IP.

Where do I change that to the new IP? I've been poking around in various files in /var/named and /var/qdns but haven't found it.

The master is currently running 5.3.x with BIND 9.3.5-P1 on OSX 10.4.x.

Thanks.

It sounds like you needed to restart Men & Mice DNS Server Controller, for some reason. That should not be a recurring problem.

Let's hope you're right.

Still, I can't manage the server if I can't connect to it. Any ideas/suggestions there?

Chris, that package is still not downloadable.

Is there any difference between that and the one on ISC's site which I posted yesterday?

I had attempted an install of 0.9.3.5 as that apparently has a fix for the cache poisoning problem, and now my DNS is dead in the water.

On make test for 0.9.4.1 from ISC I get

make[2]: *** [named] Error 1
make[1]: *** [subdirs] Error 1
make: *** [subdirs] Error 1

Dunno what that means though.

Similar errors when I try to go straight to 0.9.4.2:

make[2]: *** [named] Error 1
make[1]: *** [subdirs] Error 1
make: *** [subdirs] Error 1

Domain name server is currently deaf from what I can tell.

And if 9.4.x is NOT already installed.... what other steps are necessary?

I'm on 9.2.2

thanks.
I was attempting to compile and test 9.4.2-p1. If you read Chris's instructions above, you'll see that I hadn't even gotten to installing 9.4.1 yet.

I assume that Chris had a reason for suggesting the install of 9.4.1 before moving on to 9.4.2.
No warnings other than a need to update my OpenSSL (which I did), but in your Step 3 I get:

tcsh: bin/check/named-checkconf: Command not found.

Looking in there I see both named-checkconf.8 and named-checkconf.c. Attepting to run either of those (for instance root# bin/check/named-checkconf.8 -z) results in "Permission denied."

Next instruction?
Thanks for the detailed instructions.

The 9.4.1-P1 package above is a dead link.

The version at http://support.menandmice.com/download/bind/macosx/ does not download, but comes through as text on the web browser. Couldn't curl it either. Found it at

http://ftp.isc.org/isc/bind9/9.4.1-P1/bind-9.4.1-P1.tar.gz

yikes. Currently on 9.2.2. What's the best upgrade path?
Are there any know issues with 9.4.2-P1 (available in response to the cache poisoning problem at http://www.isc.org/index.pl?/about/press/?pr=2008070800) on Mac version 5.1.3?

Anything specific to watch for on installation?
